Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Past Page Studio
What makes these prints special and authentic?
Each physical print from Past Page Studio is a reproduction of an actual page from an antique Japanese book, preserving centuries-old artistry and craftsmanship. We carefully select pages that showcase beautiful woodblock prints, calligraphy, and traditional illustrations. Every piece carries the authenticity of its source material—you're owning a slice of Japanese cultural history. Our prints are professionally scanned and printed on archival-quality paper to ensure longevity while maintaining the character and patina of the original aged pages.
Are these real pages from real books?
Yes! Each physical print we offer is based on an actual page from a genuine antique Japanese book. We source these from historical collections and document the origin of each piece. Rather than selling the fragile original pages themselves (which would damage irreplaceable cultural artifacts), we create high-quality reproductions that let you enjoy and display these treasures responsibly. Think of it as preserving history while making it accessible to collectors and art lovers everywhere.
Should I choose a physical print or digital download?
Physical Prints ($65-$99) are ideal if you want a one-of-a-kind piece to frame and display. Each is unique, professionally printed, and comes ready to enhance your space. They make thoughtful gifts and investment-worthy art pieces.
Digital Downloads ($9.99) are perfect if you want to print at home, use in creative projects, or own multiple designs without the investment. You'll receive an instant high-resolution file you can print whenever and wherever you like. Great for those still deciding on framing or wanting to experiment with sizing.
What are the dimensions and sizes of the physical prints?
Physical prints are offered in various sizes to suit different spaces and preferences, typically ranging from 5" × 7" to 11" × 14", depending on the original page proportions. Each product listing clearly displays the specific dimensions for that particular print. This variation reflects the authentic sizes of the original antique book pages. If you have questions about sizing or custom options, please reach out to our team—we're happy to help you find the perfect fit for your space.
How are the prints packaged and shipped?
We take great care in protecting your artwork! Physical prints are carefully wrapped in archival tissue and packaged in sturdy cardboard tubes or flat mailers depending on size, ensuring they arrive in perfect condition. We use quality materials that won't interact with the print surface. Tracking information is provided with every shipment so you can monitor your order's journey.
Do you ship internationally?
Absolutely! We ship physical prints worldwide. International shipping times and costs vary by location, but we work with reliable carriers to get your art to you safely. Customs duties and import taxes, if applicable in your country, are the responsibility of the recipient. Digital downloads are available instantly to customers anywhere in the world.
What's your return or exchange policy?
We want you to love your purchase! If a physical print arrives damaged or defective, we'll replace it at no cost. For other return requests, please contact us within 14 days of purchase to discuss your situation—we're committed to making things right. Digital downloads cannot be refunded once accessed, as they're instant digital products, but we're here to help if there's a technical issue with your file.
Are the digital downloads high resolution?
Yes! Our digital downloads are high-resolution files (typically 300 DPI), which means they're perfect for printing at home or at a professional print shop at various sizes. The resolution is sufficient for crisp, clear prints up to 11" × 14" or larger, depending on your printer's capabilities. You'll receive clear instructions for best printing results with your download.
Can I use digital downloads for commercial purposes?
Digital downloads from Past Page Studio are licensed for personal, non-commercial use only. This includes printing for your own display, sharing with friends and family, and personal creative projects. Commercial use—such as reselling, using in published work, or incorporating into products for sale—requires a separate commercial license. If you're interested in commercial licensing, please contact us directly and we'll be happy to discuss options.
How do I care for my physical print?
Your print will last for years with simple care! Frame it behind UV-protective glass to shield it from sunlight and fading. Keep it away from direct sunlight, excessive moisture, and extreme temperature fluctuations. If you're not framing it immediately, store it flat in a dry place. The archival-quality paper we use resists yellowing and deterioration. Avoid touching the print surface with bare hands, as oils can leave marks. With basic care, your piece of Japanese cultural history will remain beautiful for generations.
